HOW IT WORKS
Members pay in, the Fund helps when a cat needs a vet, and a person decides every request within 5 working days.
THE FUND
Members own the Fund.
Mishmish Cover Limited is owned by its members and nobody else. There are no shareholders, no dividends and no one else to pay. When your cat needs a vet, you send us the bill and ask the Fund for help.
Monthly contributions into the Fund
£29 a month for cats joining under 8, £39 for cats aged 8 to 10. A fixed fee runs the mutual; everything else goes into the Fund, which is owned by the members and only ever pays for cats. The Fund share moves from the operator to the Fund every week.
Good years do good
At the end of each year the Fund looks at what came in and what it granted. Whatever is left after grants and reserves may be donated to three charities, and every member chooses which one their group supports.
A person decides, within 5 working days
When you submit a vet bill, the system prepares a memo: which vet, what condition, whether the waiting periods have passed, what the Rules say, what the Fund could help with. Then a Grants Officer reads it and decides. No automated decisions, no scripts, no call centre.
Owned by members, run by the operator
The Fund holds the money and makes the grants. Mishmish Operations Ltd runs everything else for its fixed fee. The two are separate companies with separate bank accounts, and the Rules say who may do what.
